It is a scheme of Central Social Welfare Board. We applied to West Bengal Social Welfare Board & as per their recommendation we got the sanction of 2 creche centres one in 1986 & another in 1987. It is a very noble and effective programme both for babies as well as their mothers. The babies, particularly of working & ailing mothers face various problems of existence & development due to absence of proper maternal care. To mitigate the problems partially, this organization has been operating those 2 centres within Contai-II Block, one at the villages Dakshin Paikbar & another at village Paschim Bamunia. Babies of 0-5 years of the age group are being provided there with maternal care, supplementary nutrition’s & pre-school education. 25 babies at each unit are being benefited. As per revised scheme, it has been re-named as ‘Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Programme’. Now mid-day meal in stead of Tiffin is being provided to babies for change of working hours from 9am to 5 pm instead of morning shift service. As the sanctioned amount for supplementary nutrition is not adequate, we are continuing it collecting a token contribution from the guardians of beneficiaries either in cash or in kind as usage charges as perguideline of WB State Social Welfare Board.
