Old Age Home (“KHEYA”)

       The average longevity of the people has been increased in our country. Life saving medicines, development of treatment system, balanced food, etc. have saved our countrymen from mortality at a certain percentage. On the contrary, due to abolition of joint family system, the old men & women in the family are being neglected. Sufferings of old women in the society, specially in poverty stricken rural families reached to extreme level.

        Considering to elevet sufferings of neglected helpless old women, VLN started old age home for women (25 head capacity) since 1.3.94. under financial assistant & ideology of Ministry of social Justice & Empowerment,  Govt. of India.

       At present 25 old women are kept at a building well equipped with electricity & water supply. Geezer bath, Free fooding & lodging with recreational, cultural facilities are given to them. They have also been allowed to perform religious, cultural  prayer & worship in accordance with their personal thought or faith. The Home has been named as ‘Kheya’.

     ut of 25 old women 12 are of 60-70 years old, 12 belongs to 70-80years & rest 1 is above 80 years. 3 old inmentes returned to their own residences to live with relatives as the relatives have accepted them to rehabilitate with them and one expired.  On resultant vacancy of seats, 4 further old owmen admitted here during the year. The old women inmates spend no idle time but engaged themselves in earning for their self gathering skilleness through V.T. programme. They are engaged in Handicraft  work, kantha stitching, net weaving and Creche services etc.

            There were 4 outing tours arranged for the Old-Women.

  1. i) visited Viswakarma Puja at Contai Town and on that day they visited Gouria- Math, Kanthi Railway Station KapakundalaMandir at Dariapur, Native Village place of Deshapran Birendra Nath Sasmal at
  2. ii) They have been taken away to see the gangamela festival & mela at Subdi along with Ratanti Kali Puja at Benipur

             iii) They visited Rampur Manasa withnessed Dauki Manasa  Mela Taking Anna-bhog there.

            It is assessed that they are living here happy & tension –free life. We are also really happy to see their smilling bare-teeth faces. Mr. Ashoke Kr. Pal is the Project Co-ordinator of the Home. There is also one Mid- wife, one cook, one sweeper & one chowkidar as staff. One councellor has been engaged for regular counseling. Moreover one part time Doctor is engaged here for health check up of the inmates once in a week. In case of emmergency, ailing inmates are sent to hospital by own Ambulance of VLN.

            The Home has been visited so many times as below:-
